WHO WE ARE

The name, First Baptist Church signifies its exact meaning. It was the first church where African-Americans who had settled in East Chicago could worship. First Baptist Church of East Chicago was organized in 1912. First Baptist has been serving the community for over 100 years.

 

First Baptist is a church of worship, word, prayer, outreach and based in East Chicago, IN. First Baptist endeavors to minister to the whole man, mind, body and soul. First Baptist continues to be a pillar in the East Chicago Indiana. We are changing the world with our Worship, our Witness and His Word!!

First Baptist Church is not just a ministry but a movement; an entity that is continuously striving to grow and improve itself and the people we are called to serve. First Baptist Church has one primary mission to win souls for Christ.

OUR BELIEFS

The First Baptist Church is a Word-centered ministry, designed to evangelize
the lost at any cost, equip and empower the people of God, and provide
holistic ministry to our community as well as the world.

We believe that God must be worshiped in spirit and truth. We embrace
freedom in worship because the Word says,

"Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."

Our foundation is the Word of God and we believe it in it's entirety. We believe
we can do what It says we can do, be who It says we can be,

and have what it says we can have.
